Short Note Trace balancing with PEF plane annihilators
Land seismic data often shows large variations in energy from one trace to the next. Localized noise bursts or changes in signal to noise ratio in a shot gather, for instance where the receiver spread nears a road or machinery, are not uncommon problems. Also, geophones may be poorly coupled in an area, because of surface conditions or simply having been kicked loose. Claerbout (1994) points ou...
متن کاملA Note on Heat Kernel Estimates for Second-order Elliptic Operators
We study fundamental solutions to second order parabolic systems of divergence type with time independent coefficients, and give another proof of a result by Auscher, McIntosh and Tchamitchian on the Gaussian bounds for the heat kernels of second order elliptic operators in divergence form with complex bounded measurable coefficients.
متن کاملA Note on Substructuring Preconditioning for Nonconforming Finite Element Approximations of Second Order Elliptic Problems
SUMMARY In this paper an algebraic substructuring preconditioner is considered for non-conforming nite element approximations of second order elliptic problems in 3D domains with a piecewise constant diiusion coeecient. Using a substructuring idea and a block Gauss elimination part of the unknowns is eliminated and the Schur complement obtained is preconditioned by a spectrally equivalent very ...
متن کاملA note on stochastic elliptic models
There exist two types of commonly studied stochastic elliptic models in literature: (I) r (a(x,x)r u(x,x)) = f(x) and (II) r ðaðx; xÞ}ruðx;xÞÞ 1⁄4 f ðxÞ, where x indicates randomness, } the Wick product, and a(x,x) is a positive random process. Model (I) is widely used in engineering and physical applications while model (II) is usually studied from the mathematical point of view. The differenc...
متن کاملA note on quasilinear elliptic eigenvalue problems
We study an eigenvalue problem by a non-smooth critical point theory. Under general assumptions, we prove the existence of at least one solution as a minimum of a constrained energy functional. We apply some results on critical point theory with symmetry to provide a multiplicity result.
